As a Walmart Staff Software Engineer, you will play an important role in designing, developing, and implementing digital solutions that solve mission critical performance and reliability problems for better customer experience.

About Team:
Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What you'll do:

  • Drive significant self-service tools initiatives end-to-end and across multiple layers of architecture.
  • Architecting and developing scalable applications or systems to serve the Walmart development community.
  • Drive design and implementation of durable and software solutions that will solve critical customer problems, are scalable, secure, easy to maintain, and interact with numerous other services.
  • Provide recommendations and best practices for application development, development, and developer tools.
  • Capture requirements and use cases.
  • Actively stay abreast on industry best practices, share learnings, and experiment and apply cutting edge technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership and be a role model/coach to software engineers pursuing technical career path in engineering.
  • Collaborating with project team and cross functional teams. Troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes, ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs. Interacting with project manager to provide input on project plan.
  • Take ownership of full-stack development, including front-end and back-end components.
  • Utilize your expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices and GraphQL to create robust and efficient applications.
  • Design and optimize databases using SQL and NoSQL technologies for data storage and retrieval.
  • Implement event-driven architectures using Kafka and ensure seamless integration with other systems.
  • Work with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure to build scalable and secure applications.
  • Utilize the ELK stack for log analysis and monitoring of system performance.
  • Develop and optimize queries using Big Query to analyze large datasets.

What you'll bring:

• At least 8+ years of relevant experience in building highly resilient, highly scalable systems.

• A good understanding of Java and Microservices.

• Hands on experience with Java, Spring Boot, GraphQL, Cloud (Azure/GCP/AWS ), Kubernetes, Kafka (or other messaging service), Memcached/Redis or any caching technologies, relational DBMS ( MySQL, Oracle etc.).

• Should be hands on writing/reviewing design & code.

• Familiarity with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and their impact on application performance. Hands on experience on budling sidecar applications.

• Hands on experience on application performance monitoring and tunning. Worked on profiling tools.

• Experience in system monitoring , logging, tracing, and triaging tools ( e.g. Grafana, Splunk, Kibana etc.).

• Expertise with the testing framework like Appium/Selenium.

• Understand the product and project management space with Agile methodologies.

• Strong understanding of Agile methodology and leveraging SDLC tools to improve development CI/CD, and testing efficiency (JIRA, Jenkins, GIT, Lint).

• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of least one cloud-based project - Experience in building extensible platforms, data pipelines are desirable.

• Basic knowledge on Go Lang and Python.

• Experience with developing and publish libraries is a plus.

• Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly. Proficient in new and emerging technologies.

• Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control.

• Mentoring/coaching Senior engineers and other Engineers.

• Focus on reusability, frameworks, patterns and configurations tools for faster development.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
