Job Info

Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurobiology seeks tenure-track faculty. Researchers in the areas of cellular, molecular, and developmental/synaptic neuroscience are especially encouraged to apply. Academic rank and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications, although we anticipate appointment at the tenure-track assistant professor level. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications.

Appointees will benefit from a rich and dynamic intellectual environment at UChicago. Faculty within the Department of Neurobiology enjoy membership in the Neuroscience Institute which encompasses neuroscientists in biological, clinical, psychological and physical science departments across UChicago providing strong opportunities for interaction and collaboration. Training and mentorship opportunities are available through multiple graduate programs in the areas of neuroscience, molecular/cellular biology and neural computation, and there are strong opportunities for collaboration with clinical and translational neuroscience via neighboring clinical departments.

The University offers a rich intellectual environment that includes strength in systems and computational neuroscience, a strong translational neuroscience community and affiliations with Argonne National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole. The Division, other academic units of the University, and the School of Medicine, are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago's Hyde Park. Appointees will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities and to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent. To be considered, those interested must apply through the University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/153397. Applicants must upload a curriculum vitae with bibliography, contact information for 3 references, a statement outlining past and prospective research, and a teaching statement that can include a description of the candidate's experience in teaching diverse students [the University's Diversity Statement can be found at https://provost.uchicago.edu/statements-diversity]. Review of complete applications will begin October 25, 2024 and continue until the positions are filled.
