The Teaching Professor will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses within the Foundations of American Democracy catalog. Courses will be mostly large lecture classes, including existing courses on the American Revolution and early American history. The Teaching Professor may propose new courses of interest and teach a First Year Seminar, as long as they fulfill the Foundations of American Democracy requirement (see https://curricula.unc.edu/foundations-in-american-democracy/). Teaching load is three courses per semester; salary competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
The UNC-Chapel Hill Department of History is one of the largest academic departments within the College of Arts and Sciences. The Department is committed to the purposes of a research university, to the teaching of history at the undergraduate level as a core discipline in a liberal arts education, and to the training of graduate students.
Position Summary:Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in American Democracy. Faculty member will be responsible for teaching a 3:3 load while participating in departmental service and mentoring undergraduate students.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Ph.D. in History or a related field in hand by July 1, 2025.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
