Senior Quality Engineer
JOB SUMMARY:
The Senior Quality Engineer (QE) will independently solve complex problems and drive innovation while defining and maintaining quality standards that align with customer requirements and Technetics Group protocols. With minimal guidance, they will lead projects, support less experienced colleagues, and translate quality requirements across all manufacturing phases. By leveraging technical expertise and House of Quality tools, the Senior QE ensures the successful execution of company goals and initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate Quality requirements for orders - especially for Aerospace and new product introduction.
- Review customer RFQ's or QA capability/feasibility assessment
- Review customer purchase orders and supporting documentation to ensure proper QA/QC flow downs (internally and to suppliers/labs)
- Work with Engineering to provide feedback and suggestions for DFMA (inspection)
- APQP: Create Quality Plans and appropriate inspection methods for critical product characteristics
- Create Quality documentation packages (FAIR, PPAP, FMEA, etc.)
- Review engineering and customer drawings
- Interface with customers to approve specifications and document packages
- Manage Supplier Quality requirements and issues.
- Utilize Quality tools to improve processes: 8D, Fishbone, Pareto, Etc.
- Programming or use of complex inspection equipment (Visual Systems, CMM, etc.)
- Support QC for inspections, evaluations and control testing.
- Interface with design and manufacturing personnel to resolve problems before product flow is affected and excessive rework and scrap is generated.
- Investigate and respond to customer complaints.
- Coordinate Corrective Actions and Non-Conformance issues internally and with suppliers.
- Support/Manage Calibration program and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) as needed.
- Support NDE/NDT systems and qualifications to industry standards as needed.
- Support QMS Audits, Customer Audits/Source Inspections/Visits.
- Act as a backup leader to guide and support the quality team, providing direction and assistance as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively participates on a Safety Team and follows all safety requirements.
- Takes part in continuous improvement initiatives and innovation ideation.
- Engages in daily production meetings and department ROPE/GEMBA walks.
- Utilizes an analytical, logical thought process and has meticulous attention to detail.
- Performs any other assigned duty as directed by management.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of GD&T and inspection techniques and inspection equipment.
- At least 5 year of key Quality tools such as: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, etc.
- At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing setting with machined and formed metal products (CNC turning, milling, grinding, lapping, etc.)
- Proficiency with calibration standards and methods.
- Proficiency with one or more of the following: AS9100, ISO9001, NQA-1
- Demonstrates great interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrates a professional and positive attitude as well as a passion for continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of Quality experience in aerospace or automotive industries
- Knowledge of Nadcap heat treat processes (AC7102)
- 1 plus years of CMM Programming experience preferred.
