Job Description Summary
This role will manage the complete Human Resources and Labor Relations functions for this location. This individual reports to the Director Human Resources but has strong dotted line reporting responsibilities to the Plant Manager. The Plant HR/LR Manager supervises the HR team and is the key plant resource responsible for helping the plant team recruit, retain, develop, and keep full engagement of non-union and union employees. Accountable for direction, management, and financial success of the HR function at the American Falls, ID plant by establishing and achieving current and long-range objectives, plans and policies.
Job Description
• Working as a strategic business partner with the plant leadership, evaluate the state of human resources and labor relations in the plant, identify opportunities for improvement and assist the broader HR/LR teams in developing and executing a strategic vision for the HR/LR function in the plant. A focus on supporting the achievement of both functional and plant key performance objectives is critical.
• Drive non-union and union employee engagement to maximize safety, manufacturing, quality and customer service goal attainment. Monitor employee attitudes, leads culture assessments and action planning to close any gaps.
• Develops and aligns HR/LR initiatives to the business strategy which includes the ability to identify, analyze, and understand business goals and objectives at the company, plant and business unit level.
• Manages regulatory compliance, social accountability audits, and leads investigations of complaints/concerns to include alleged harassment or discrimination.
• Partners with Lamb Weston's DEI team to analyze, monitor and improve diversity efforts including education, training, staffing, communication, development, and diversity culture building.
• Leads development, implementation, and audits of all HR policies and procedures
• Coach and counsel managers and supervisors in the plant regarding employee relations issues to empower them to address employee issues at the lowest possible level
• Manage consistent execution of compensation programs including merit, bonus, and promotional counseling. Provide management education on salary administration and performance management. Analyze and effectively execute compensation programs, and rewards & recognition plans.
• Ensure consistent delivery of benefit programs.
• Provide career planning and development counsel to employees and managers using Human Resource Planning platforms such as Performance Management (PMP), Talent Management (TM), and Individual Development Planning (IDP)
• Provide strategic planning advice and guidance to management in preparation for and during labor relations contract negotiations. Draft proposals, facilitate internal and union meetings. Responsible for CBA implementation at site.
• Oversee collective bargaining procedures, including drafting, reviewing and modifying proposals and TAs, verifying contract terminology and proactively recommending necessary contract sections and policies.
• Analyze current CBAs and human resources policies to determine overall state of employee relations and recommend creative and innovative changes to improve morale, efficiency, and overall performance.
• Communicate effectively with managers, senior leaders, and union representatives daily to create positive working environment, address worker grievances and verify compliance with contractual protocols.
• Manage grievances process by investigating issues, validity of claims, adherence to contract policies and completion of resolutions procedures.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
• 7-10 Years Human Resource Generalist experience
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field (Master's degree a plus) law degree preferred
• Professional training or significant experience in union environment or collective bargaining required.
• Extensive experience with and knowledge of labor and employment laws and what is permissible and not permissible within labor relations.
• Experience managing grievance processes, union campaigns and negotiations.
• Professional in Human Resource (PHR) or (SPHR) preferred
• Previous manufacturing/plant experience (24 hour operation facility)
• Excellent communication, presentation, and experience in a manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of HRMS and Microsoft Office products
