Job Description:

The Sr. Manager, Data Systems is responsible for managing the Company's data systems and application governance of all systems within the commercial business. The position is both operational and managerial and includes managing external vendors and contractors. The incumbent works closely with Business Intelligence and is the business relationship manager for the Commercial teams to align the data infrastructure with the organization's needs, ensures that data sets are collected, stored, and processed efficiently and securely, as well as oversees the maintenance and optimization of database/information systems, data warehouses, and other data-related systems.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive data management strategy that aligns with the organization's goals.
  • Oversees master data management, data governance policies and procedures to ensure data integrity, quality, and security.
  • Ensures proper planning for data backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity as it applies to data and reporting infrastructure.
  • Manages the full spectrum of data lifecycle from raw data acquisition, through Extract/Transform/Loan (ETL) activities, data warehousing, and data mart generation.
  • Works closely with the Business Intelligence/Business Analyst team to understand enterprise data needs and publish data models/data marts to support these requirements.
  • Serves as a key technical liaison to the broader organization supporting business applications, reporting, and automation.
  • Ensures compliance with relevant data protection regulations and assesses data-related risks.
  • Manages the external relationships, engagements, contracts, and agreements with vendors that provide data and technology solutions.
  • Empowers all organizational levels with the knowledge and skills to interpret and leverage data and business systems effectively.
  • Improves business operations through better use of monitoring, scripting, and new technologies.
  • Works in conjunction with the IT Help Desk, Cloud/Infrastructure team, and Network and Security team.
  • Shares administrative functions for general business systems.
  • Acts as an escalation point for IT Help Desk support issues.
  • Provides backup coverage for IT Infrastructure support.
  • General IT support to staff and consultants.

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent related experience.
  • 5+ years' data infrastructure or related IT systems experience.
  • 2+ years' SQL server experience.
  • Good understanding of IT in general.
  • Experience with QlikSense, PowerBi, or equivalent data analytics platform.
  • Experience with Salesforce, Veeva CRM, or equivalent relationship management platform.
  • Experience in designing ETL for data extraction and building data models.
  • Proficient in building and optimizing complex SQL queries.
  • Travel Requirements: Approximately 5%
