The Opportunity
Mass General Brigham Digital, in partnership with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer (OCMO), is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Solutions Architecture who has a passion for healthcare data and will thrive as a member of an experienced, high performing and highly motivated team. This person will have a desire to learn and a flexibility to adjust to the fast-changing analytic and reporting demands of our system. The best candidate has solid analytical and communication skills, and experience working with health care data.
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Data & Analytics, the Senior Manager of Solutions Architecture will lead and oversee the OCMO solutions architecture team and will be member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing new clinical data products. The OCMO domain areas of focus include Quality, Safety, Health Equity, Community Health, Patient Experience, Provider Wellbeing, Credentialing, and Pharmacy and Formulary.
The Senior Manager of Solutions Architecture will lead and manage the OCMO solutions architecture team by providing strategic direction and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. The incumbent will oversee the architectural design and development of new clinical data products, ensuring alignment with OCMO and MGB Digital's vision, and leading the transition from legacy systems to cloud-based technologies. The candidate will act as a senior technical advisor, maintain key relationships with stakeholders, and be accountable for the promotion and maintenance of all OCMO data products. They will also champion the Provider MDM workstream as well as oversee the Epic Cogito developers working on OCMO data products. As a Team Lead of a development team, they will work closely with domain stakeholders and technical leads to prioritize product requirements and resolve technical challenges, while also building key relationships with senior leadership to identify analytical solutions. The candidate will maintain a high-level understanding of the data and analytic landscape at Mass General Brigham, including data sources, assets, tools, and master data.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the Solutions Architecture team, including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance evaluation.
- Provides strategic direction and guidance to the Solutions Architecture team, ensuring alignment with the OCMO and MGB Digital vision and goals.
- Oversee the architectural design and development of new clinical data products, ensuring they align with established principles and address any bottlenecks to enhance velocity and data quality.
- Lead the decommissioning of D4Q and OCMO data products on EDW and BHMart, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
- Functions as a Team Lead overseeing the OCMO cross-functional domain teams; working closely with Domain Stakeholders to understand prioritization and product requirement; partners closely with the Domain Technical Lead to ensure appropriate escalation of technical blockers / impediments and alignment on technical requirements.
- Fosters a culture of learning and growth within the domain development team, providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring to team members. Builds trust and collaboration among the team and across other domain teams.
- Function as the Chair of the Provider MDM workstream, guiding the MDM Platform team and cross-domain stakeholders (i.e. Operations, Finance, Population Health) towards achieving strategic objectives and maintaining high data quality standards for our clinician data.
- Provides indirect supervision of the Epic Cogito developers by overseeing the development of new and existing quality-related extracts and overseeing the strategy for reducing the number of on-prem extracts.
- Acts as a senior technical advisor for the OCMO to provide insights and recommendations to inform the new analytics strategy within new and emerging cloud-based technologies.
- Oversee the strategy and validation of new cloud-based technologies, staying current with industry trends and integrating relevant advancements into our work.
- Build and maintain key relationships with senior leadership, physicians, and other stakeholders to understand complex business problems and develop analytical solutions.
- Accountable for the processes to promote data products to production and ongoing maintenance and support for all OCMO data products including, but not limited to, data models and dashboards.
- Builds and maintains a high-level understanding of the data and analytic landscape at Mass General Brigham including data sources, data and analytic assets and products, analytic tools and software, and master data.
- Accrues advanced knowledge of the OCMO product domains and can quickly apply development strategies to meet the stakeholder requirements for data products.
- Fosters a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the Solutions Architecture team, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to enhance the quality and efficiency of data products.

Qualifications Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, informatics, statistics, or related field and an interest in healthcare and the use of technology to support clinical care.
- 7+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, or similar role.
- 7+ years of experience with data modeling.
- 3+ years of experience in managing or leading a technical team.
- Epic Proficiency or Certification in Clarity / Caboodle data model or Epic applications is required.
- Strong working knowledge with querying complex data structures using SQL is required.
- Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Amazon Redshift, etc.
- Strong knowledge of implementing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and transforming and modeling workflow tools, such as DBT or Informatica.
- Strong working knowledge of source control principles and implementing CI/CD pipelines.
- Working knowledge of traditional data warehousing and cloud data warehousing concepts.
- Experience mentoring and training technical staff members.
