Meet the team:

The R&D Mechanical Engineering Characterization Team is responsible for the feasibility and development of next-generation products at Dexcom. We're seeking a cross-functionally disciplined engineer with subject matter expertise in electromechanical systems to support development of Dexcom's next generation wearable platforms.

Positioned within the Mechanical Engineering team, this is a high visibility, high impact role in achieving Dexcom's product performance and reliability goals through delivering functional excellence in the research, development, and characterization of enabling technologies/designs & their integration to a product ecosystem.

Where you come in:

  • You will be responsible for the design and development of novel test methods, including any related fixturing and equipment, to support characterization of device performance attributes, with a focus on electromechanical functions.
  • You will define and execute broad characterization strategies and test plans to measure material, component, subsystem and system level performance across the entire product design lifecycle.
  • You will perform extensive data analysis using engineering statistics best practices to drive data-based decisions.
  • In collaboration with advanced research, materials engineering, design verification, and operations teams, you will create and mature measurement systems and methodologies to characterize, verify, and validate Dexcom products.
  • You will work with cross-functional partners, such as electrical, firmware, sensor electrochemistry, membrane, process development, and operations, to solve challenging technical problems and identify and test creative solutions to mitigate.
  • You will drive workstreams independently, compile data for readout and effectively communicate results and findings to functional leadership and program stakeholders.

What makes you successful:
  • You have extensive test development (fixture design, programming, test procedure and protocol development, etc.) and characterization experience, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • You are skilled at data analysis methods and analysis software, with the ability to construct appropriately powered and creatively designed experiments to solve complex problems.
  • You bring depth of knowledge in electronics-based, multi-disciplinary products and technologies with background in related testing and metrology tools (e.g. electromechanical devices, wearables, mechatronics, injection molded plastics, adhesives and coatings).
  • You have demonstrated product development experience with proven ability to translate high level product requirements into technical requirements with related test methods.
  • You have experience/familiarity with lab and measurement equipment, and are adept at leveraging these tools at will to characterize parts and products.
  • Prior experience with sealing methods preferred. (e.g. welding, gluing, mechanical seals)
  • You thrive in environments where there is ambiguity or uncertainty in product requirements and have a willingness to try and test new ideas, coupled with a track record of success in a fast-paced R&D environment.
  • You bring a spirit of innovation to challenge the status quo and pursue innovations in technology, product features and business processes.
  • You exercise judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action.
  • You have excellent communication (written and verbal), collaboration and personal interaction skills with ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.

What you'll get:
  • A front row seat to life changing CGM technology. Learn about our brave #dexcomwarriors community.
  • A full and comprehensive benefits program.
  • Growth opportunities on a global scale.
  • Access to career development through in-house learning programs and/or qualified tuition reimbursement.
  • An exciting and innovative, industry-leading organization committed to our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.

Travel Required:
