The Research and Development Analytical Chemist needs to have deep understanding of analytical and rheological techniques used in the analysis of formulated polymer products. The techniques should include but not limit to TGA, DSC, GC, DMA, rheometer, FTIR, MS, GPC, SEM, AFM, and elemental analysis. He/she needs to be familiar with analysis of formulation components, such as polymers, fillers, plasticizers, lubricants, flame retardants, catalysts, stabilizers, curatives, catalysts, etc. He/she needs to be knowledgeable about physical and chemical separation techniques and has ability to breakdown complex formulations. Analytical Chemist is responsible for leading projects in supporting product development projects as well as trouble shooting product, process and field installation issues for different product lines at Carlisle Construction Materials. He/she is responsible for identifying, developing and implementing new analytical methods and techniques to better understand and predict formulation interactions and long-term performance. In addition, he/she has the responsibility for conducting analysis to assist chemists, engineers, and production in making qualitative and quantitative analyses for research and development of products or processes. This position reports to the Analytical Laboratory Manager.

* Responsible for developing new and improved methods and techniques in chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy, rheology, and physical and chemical separation techniques.
* Responsible for identifying, developing, and implementing analytical methods and techniques to better understand and predict formulation interactions and long-term performance.
* Responsible for building knowledge on fundamental properties of formulation components, such as polymers, fillers, plasticizers, lubricants, flame retardants, catalysts, stabilizers, curatives, etc.
* Lead projects in supporting product development projects as well as trouble shooting product, process, and field installation issues for different product lines at Carlisle.
* Provide technical support and assistance to product managers, R&D chemists and engineers, production, and warranty group.
* Communicate and provide training on analytical group capabilities and techniques.
* Responsible for calibration, performance monitoring, maintenance, and operation of equipment.
* Provide and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

* Advanced analytical knowledge in commonly used analytical and rheological techniques including TGA, DSC, GC, LC, DMA, rheometer, FTIR, MS, GPC, NMR, SEM, AFM, and elemental analysis
* Familiar with analysis of formulation components, such as polymers, fillers, plasticizers, lubricants, flame retardants, catalysts, stabilizers, curatives, etc.
* Knowledgeable with physical and chemical separation techniques
* Ability to breakdown complex formulations using analytical techniques
* Excellent problem solving skills

PhD. degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Material Science, or equivalent.

2-5 years minimum analytical experience in a relevant industry.
