The College of Allied Health Sciences at Augusta University trains and educates today's health care professionals: the therapists, technicians, administrators, managers and assistants who are the backbone of our country's health care workforce. As the nation's population ages and increasingly struggles with chronic disease and disability, as well as health care reform, our mission of educating premier health care professionals has never been more vital. Job Summary
Performs a variety of complex duties involved in a clinical study, a basic science or research laboratory in support of research initiatives; develops and evaluates new techniques and procedures; may coordinate and/or supervise activities of support staff.
Responsibilities
Job duties include, but are not limited to: Administrative - Complete a variety of administrative duties such as ordering equipment and supplies, maintaining supply/reagent inventories and monitoring/disposal of hazardous waste; responsible for maintenance of research facilities and equipment, oversight of record keeping, laboratory clean-up, etc. Laboratory - Perform molecular and cellular analyses according to standardized protocols. Tissue and cell preparation for biochemical assays and performance of biochemical and molecular biological assays such as RNA analysis, spatial gene expression profiling, western blotting, immunohistochemistry and enzymatic assays. Perform analysis using microscopy. Research -Participates in planning and development of research protocols. Maintains and organizes sample inventory. Collects data and performs lab analysis and/or quantifies and tabulates results. Performs data entry in statistical programs for relevant research activities. Performs activities in support of clinical research projects. Coordinates research activities of graduate students, fellows, assistants and other employees.
Recruiting - Recruits participants and determines qualifications/eligibility to participate in study.
Manuscripts - Prepares manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
Grants - Assists with grant preparation. Other - Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with laboratory equipment, analytical ability, knowledge of statistical methods, experience in biochemistry/molecular biology/microscopy, experience working with mouse models.

Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday
Pay Grade: R9
Salary: Minimum $15.00/hour - Midpoint $17.41/hour
Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
