The Center for Survey Research is a research unit of the IU Research providing state-of-the-art qualitative and quantitative research services.
Job Summary
The Research Laboratory of the Center for Survey Research seeks to expand its team of Part-Time Telephone Research Laboratory Supervisors. The Research Laboratory (RL) conducts academic, health, and social science research and does NOT engage in telemarketing or fundraising.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Supervises a team of interviewers who conduct the interviews over the telephone
- Monitors (quality control) interviews and provides constructive performance feedback and education to interviewers when necessary
- Opens and closes work shifts and ensures interviewing productivity during shift
- Reviews and manages study cases
- Communicates with the larger research study team
QualificationsEDUCATION
RequiredWORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred- Supervisory experience in an office or research setting, customer service or telephone work experience, or familiarity with health or social science research

- Ability to manage teams effectively
- Ability to multi-task and work with independent initiative
- Proficiency with Microsoft products
Preferred- Spanish language proficiency
Working Conditions / DemandsPhysical demands include working on the computer for sustained amounts of time, mental concentration, speech and listening.
Equipment required to be in this position includes:
- A computer with at least 8GB RAM (16GB preferred), a Windows 11 or Windows 10 64-bit with the latest security updates or MacOS 12, 13, or 14, any current-generation x64-based processor (Intel or AMD) of over 2 GHz and at least 2 cores.
- Strong, reliable internet connection at a minimum of 100 mbps.
- Quiet, private room or closed-door space for a confidential environment.
Additional InformationThe anticipated project start date is November 1, 2024 with 15-20 hours of flexible training beginning on October 10, 2024.
Work LocationThis is a fully remote position. However, this is subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.
Advertised Salary$18-$22 per hour based on experience
Work HoursThe remote interviews are conducted daily (including weekends), from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm Eastern Time, but individual work shifts run approximately 4 hours (morning shift, afternoon shift, evening shift).
Work schedules are flexible but supervisors must be available for some evening and weekend shifts and work a minimum of 3 shifts per week.
Some supervisors may occasionally go on-site into the lab to coordinate, receive, or drop off materials or equipment. The work environment is dynamic, fast-paced, collaborative, and open.
Must work some evenings or weekends. Work schedules are flexible but require a minimum of 12 hours per week.
