The School of Nursing is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Academic Research Assistant to join a research team on the Indiana University Northwest campus (Gary, Indiana). A successful candidate will assist with various aspects of academic research, including data collection, literature review, experimental design, analysis, and preparation of research materials for publication. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to gain hands-on research experience and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in this area.
Job Summary
- Conducts comprehensive literature searches and summarize relevant research findings to support ongoing projects.
- Assists in the design and implementation of experiments, surveys, and/or fieldwork, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection.
- Maintains accurate records of research activities and results. Prepare and organize research findings for publication, presentations, and reports.
- Assists in the preparation of research materials such as presentations, reports, and manuscripts for submission to academic journals and conferences.
- Collaborates with other team members, including graduate students, faculty, and external researchers, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Assists with scheduling meetings, coordinating study logistics, and managing research resources.
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required
Preferred
- Bachelor's or Master's degree program in psychology, biology, chemistry, sociology, or nursing
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- Experience with data collection techniques (e.g., surveys, interviews, laboratory experiments)
- Prior experience in academic research or laboratory settings
SKILLS
Required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and concisely
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse research team
Preferred- Familiarity with academic writing and publication processes.
Additional InformationThis part-time position may also provide opportunities for academic credit, depending on the institution's policies.
