1. Educate participants and enforce rules and regulations regarding safe and proper use of equipment and facility.

Required Minimum Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Required License/Certification:

All fitness center employees must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified or be willing to obtain certification within 2 months of employment.

Preferred Type of Experience:

1. Prior experience working at a fitness center or gym is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge on how to correctly use and adjust strength training and cardio machines.

Knowledge on the instruction and demonstration on the proper use of weight and cardio equipment.

Knowledge of exercise physiology, strength training theory, and anatomy and exercise instruction.

Skills to effectively explain and demonstrate strength training and cardio machines and the ability to provide assistance to faculty and students as needed.

Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing.

Skill in the use of personal computers and relevant software (i.e. Microsoft Office).

Ability to appear on time for work and notify the appropriate individual if unable to work

General Working Conditions:

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.

Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
