General Summary:

Medical Technologist at the MGH Cancer Center in the Immune Monitoring Laboratory. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support the development of this service-orientated, clinically focused research laboratory. The mission of the laboratory is to provide comprehensive high quality immune monitoring that is innovative and enables translational research of immune-based therapies. We work closely with the Maus Lab, and therefore have a unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking CAR-T clinical trials in additional to studies using FDA approved products. Current trials include the study of the immune response in patients following infusion with CAR-T for treatment of glioblastoma, multiple myeloma and lymphoma.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process and bank blood, bone marrow, CSF and solid tissues from patients undergoing immune-based therapy.
  • Perform multi-color flow cytometry using a 12 color BD FACS Lyric and the spectral Aurora. Perform flow data analysis to monitor CAR T expansion and function.
  • Use Dynex DS2 for ELISA automation in addition to quantification of cytokine, soluble receptors and antibodies in serum, plasma and CSF using Luminex and ELLA multiplex platforms.
  • Use QIAcube to perform extraction of DNA and RNA from patient samples.
  • Use QIAgility and Bio-Rad automation to perform ddPCR for monitoring CAR-T expansion.
  • Perform cell sorting using the SONY MA900.
  • Support the introduction of new equipment into the laboratory workflow, including validation and verification.
  • Train new lab members in the various techniques.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of specialized equipment.
  • Contribute to assay development, quality control processes, and technical validation.
  • Maintain accurate sample storage and record keeping.
  • Contribute to writing method validations, SOPs following document control procedures.
  • Contribute to incident investigations.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly lab meetings.
  • Attend meetings with trial sponsors and clinical teams and contribute to data presentations.


Qualifications
Qualifications:

B.S. Degree is required. Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience is required and ASCP certification is preferred. Experience working in a CLIA/CAP regulated laboratory would be desirable.

Skills & Competencies Required:
  • Experience working with human samples.
  • Meticulous and methodical record keeping.
  • Ability to pick up techniques quickly.
  • Experience working with LIMS systems.
  • Experience in assay development and validation.
  • Experience with either flow cytometry or molecular diagnostics would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of hematological malignancies would be an advantage.
  • Excellent written communication skills and competency in writing SOPs.
  • Must be organized and capable of following protocols.
  • Good hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Must have demonstrable experience in method development and/or trouble shooting.
  • Must be proficient with MS Office programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and statistical packages.
  • Ability to work independently on designated projects.
