About the role

Plenty is looking for a Manager, Maintenance and Facilities to join our Farm Operations leadership team. Your skills and training will be applied to a new and innovative indoor vertical farming environment growing and harvesting strawberries! This is a full-time, onsite role in our Chester, VA location.

Our maintenance team troubleshoots, maintains, and continually improves our Industrial Automation equipment in our farm facilities, This role ensures our farms are always operating and performing at their best. In this role, you will own and lead the stability, improvement, maintenance, and performance functions of our automated systems and office facility. You will manage facilities, tool productivity, maintenance and conduct data analysis to improve processes, and manage quality measurement for their tools/process. You will drive continuous improvement to meet the requirements of the manufacturing ramp.

What you'll do

  • Lead a proactive predictive maintenance program and CMMS
  • Drive PM and Work Order completion rate that deliver in business expectations
  • Collaborate with Production Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Maintenance and other cross-functional teams as the expert to ensure production lines run in a safe, efficient manner producing high quality product
  • Manage the day to day operations of the Maintenance Team
  • Lead equipment upgrades with a focus on serviceability, reliability, food safety/sanitation, and process capability
  • Become subject matter expert to execute equipment-related process improvement including detailed troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Work with the Operations Training Manager to build training material
  • Develop maintenance routines, service bulletins, and documentation related to cradle to grave equipment life cycle management
  • Identify equipment critical spare parts and ensure sufficient coverage to prevent extended downtime situations
  • Provide hands-on support and guidance to the Maintenance Team to troubleshoot and resolve extended downtime situations
  • Maintain Preventative Maintenance logs to support food safety certification
  • Others duties as assigned - we're a growing scale-up so you never know what you might get the opportunity to work on as we grow
What you'll bring to the table
  • Education or experience equivalent to B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Computer Engineering or equivalent time in Maintenance Leadership roles
  • 7+ years of progressive experience working on a maintenance team supporting automated production lines
  • Experience leading technicians or other technical resources
  • Demonstrated track record of creating processes from scratch and improving existing processes within a Maintenance department
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to meet tight timelines and solve issues in collaboration with others
  • Experience with PLC navigation
  • Willing to work days, afternoons, nights and weekends as determined by project needs
  • Ability to push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work in produce freezer environments - as low as 32 degrees
  • Ability to work at heights up to 40 feet
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus
