A prestigious national trial defense law firm, renowned for its success in high-exposure healthcare law cases, is seeking a skilled Litigation Legal Assistant to join its team in Carlsbad. This firm prides itself on a client-centric approach and a collegial culture where exceptional legal professionals thrive. This position operates on a 37.5-hour work week. The office has a strong focus on culture, blending mid-size firm resources with a boutique firm feel.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain attorneys' calendars, including docketing court appearances, meetings, depositions, and deadlines.
  • Arrange court appearances, client meetings, depositions, and other engagements, ensuring no scheduling conflicts and notifying attorneys of pending deadlines.
  • Prepare and file pleadings and other court documents, serving all appropriate parties.
  • Create and maintain client files, records, logs, and other case-related information.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Legal Assistant within a law firm, ideally in med-mal defense or other defense litigation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legal concepts, terminology, principles, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with the functions and jurisdictions of local, state, and federal courts, including filing requirements.
  • High proficiency in using MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), billing software, and online document management software.
  • Familiarity with electronic filing procedures in state and federal courts.
  • Proficient in tracking billing hours through billing software.
