Our Montrose Environmental Solutions (MES) Segment is a $250M+ revenue business line within Montrose and includes our Environmental Consulting and Engineering ("ECE") division spanning throughout the United States, Matrix Solutions based in Calgary, Canada, and Epic Environmental in Australia. The MES Segment is a dynamic, high-growth business line and is the largest of five segments across Montrose, and it continues to expand through organic growth and acquisitions. Primarily serving as Montrose's high-value consultancy Segment, the consulting teams deliver solutions for complex environmental challenges using our regulatory expertise and implementing practical and cost-effective compliance management processes and programs. We address our clients' biggest concerns around permitting, ecoservices, assessment, and remediation.
Our highly trained and experienced engineers and scientists, environmental and remediation specialists, geologists, hydrogeologists, biologists, and environmental compliance specialists work with both public- and private-sector clients, delivering turnkey solutions.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
Our Junior Accountant position will report to the Director of Accounting and is located in North Little Rock, AR. This position will be in office with the opportunity for a hybrid schedule.
As a key member of the Accounting Center of Excellence (COE), this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
- Assist in the preparation, coordination and management of financial accounting and compliance functions.
- Build strong working relationships with other COE teams, Corporate Finance, GBS, Audit, Workday support, and Operational teams, to continuously improve the collaboration across the support functions.
- Develop a deep knowledge of the underlying financial transactions in Workday and an understanding of the overall reporting process; proactively identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies to achieve more timely and accurate results in the accounting and GL close process.
- Prepare accruals at month-end to ensure proper financial statement cutoff.
- Review P&L for accuracy.
- Prepare analysis and conclusions for subjective or complex accruals.
- Provide support for the quarterly reviews and annual audit process to provide timely support and resolve any issues or outcomes arising from internal and external audits.
- Support the quarterly and annual tax provision process with the internal tax manager and external tax providers.
- Support various aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual tax compliance program with the corporate tax manager and the local tax service professionals.
- Support the due diligence process for potential acquisitions and support the integration efforts and purchase accounting.
- Assist the FP&A team with financial reporting, flux analysis, KPI measurements, budgeting, forecasting and projects as needed.
- Travel may be required both domestically and international.
YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLSTo perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- A Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent from an accredited university.
- 3+ additional years working in a finance/accounting team with progressive hands-on experience, preferably in a service-based organization.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation a plus.
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP and technical accounting knowledge, SOX internal control frameworks, and financial reporting requirements. Familiarity with U.S. GAAP revenue recognition principles.
- Solution oriented mindset with the ability to identify issues, investigate and recommend resolutions.
- Strong time management skills: able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment with the ability to prioritize.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, with experience in project accounting modules preferred. Workday Financials a plus.
- Exceptional Excel skills with the ability to manage, analyze and simplify large amounts of data.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities, with experience in leading and developing teams to achieve organizational goals.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience in construction, engineering or other service and project-based industries is a plus.
