Position Overview:
Motiva's Information Systems & Technology (IT) organization plays a crucial role in driving the company's business strategy through customer-focused partnerships and collaboration across all Motiva businesses. The refinery IT group is dedicated to providing effective local support through fit-for-purpose, cost-efficient solutions. As technology continues to advance, IT remains committed to delivering scalable, efficient services that offer the highest level of support to the business.
As an IT Technician, you will be at the forefront of our technology operations, ensuring the seamless functioning of our IT infrastructure. Your role is critical in providing top-notch technical support to all users, maintaining system efficiency, and safeguarding network integrity. Success in this position requires a deep understanding of the business IT landscape, coupled with strong problem-solving skills to effectively address technical challenges. Outstanding customer service is also essential in delivering exceptional support and fostering positive user experiences.
This role is based at our Manufacturing Complex in Port Arthur, TX.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for technical support, providing prompt and effective solutions for all users.
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of system hardware and software.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in person, remotely, and over the phone.
- Deliver and configure computers, along with all necessary peripheral devices.
- Provide training and guidance to users on new software and hardware operations.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, troubleshooting, and system updates.
- Monitor network performance and security, assisting in maintaining a secure and private IT environment.
- Modify configurations, utilities, and software as needed to meet user requirements.
- Assist in the installation, testing, and monitoring of server infrastructure systems.
- Support LAN/WAN hardware and technologies, including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Act as a liaison between users and senior support staff to ensure accurate problem interpretation and resolution.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients throughout the problem resolution process.
- Utilize superior customer service skills to build strong relationships with users.
- Stay informed about organizational standards and adhere to them consistently.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and meet all deadlines.
- Assist IT Management with various projects and tasks as needed.
Experience and Qualifications:Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in computer networks and systems maintenance.
- Proven experience as an IT Technician or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of IT principles with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a diverse audience.
- In-depth knowledge of computer systems, networks, internet security, and data privacy principles.
- Action-oriented, energetic, and results-driven with the ability to quickly add value to an organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven success in stakeholder management.
- Excellent diagnostic, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, diverse environment while managing competing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications- IT Technician certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Cisco Certified Network Associate).
