The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care is looking for an Occupational Therapist to evaluate, interpret findings, and treat patients with complex physical dysfunctions, and/or injuries involving both complex and/or specialized needs in an acute care setting.

  • Provides quality patient care, evaluation, assessment, and treatment appropriate for patients' needs.
  • Evaluates and instructs patients in appropriate treatment plans in order to achieve treatment goals.
  • Participates in divisional quality/process improvement activities and recommends opportunities for improvement in service quality.
  • Attends and participates in educational programs and provides educational experiences as assigned.
  • Demonstrates respect for all members of the University community in the course of performing one's duties and in response to administrators, supervisors, coworkers, and customers.

The department intends to hire one person from either Occupational Therapist, requisition 24005042 or Senior Occupational Therapist, requisition 24005043, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. Please apply to the specific position for which you wish to be considered or both.

Required Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy is required
  • Entry level experience in acute care hospital setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
Licenses/ Certifications:
  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required
Desirable Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Experience in one or more of the following patient care specialties in acute care setting including ICU, cardiology, burn, orthopedics
  • Demonstrates leadership abilities
  • Demonstrates experience as part of a multidisciplinary medical team.
  • Job related experience with and/or commitment to service excellence.
