SUMMARY:

The Identity & Access Management Architect leads the design, implementation, integration and management of identity and access management (IAM) solutions across cloud and on-premise environments for the University of Richmond. This position collaborates with cross-functional teams to define IAM requirements, develop architectural designs, and implement IAM solutions that meet the needs of university stakeholders. The IAM architect evaluates and recommends IAM technologies, tools, and vendors to support the university's evolving security and operational needs as well as develops, maintains, enhances, documents, and supports campus identity and access management infrastructure. The IAM Architect reports to the Director of Enterprise Identity & Access and functions within a team of technology professionals responsible for ensuring the reliability, security and health of university applications and networks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identity and Access Management

  • Design, deploy, and manage identity and access management (IAM) solutions.
  • Integrate IAM with enterprise systems including but not limited to single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and directory services (LDAP).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, assess risks, and define IAM strategies and policies.
  • Develop and maintain IAM documentation, including architecture diagrams, process workflows, and technical specifications.
  • Configure and customize IAM platforms to meet business needs and integrate with existing systems and applications.
  • Monitor IAM systems for performance, availability, and security vulnerabilities, and implement remediation measures as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in identity and access management and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to internal stakeholders and assist with troubleshooting IAM-related issues.
Other Responsibilities
  • Create, review, and maintain documentation related to all supported systems
  • Attend project, team, and departmental meetings, acting as project leader when required
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery procedures for in-scope IAM technologies and participate in annual off-site disaster recovery exercise
  • Remain current with technology through self-study and/or attendance at classes, conferences, seminars, or workshops
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrable proficiency in one or more IAM platforms in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of identity and access management principles, protocols, and standards, including authentication, authorization, and directory services.
  • Experience with identity governance and administration (IGA) tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • At least five years of experience in identity and access management in complex enterprise environments, with hands-on experience deploying and managing IAM solutions
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Identity and Access Manager (CIAM) are desirable.
WORK HOURS:
  • Full-time, exempt position (remote or hybrid work acceptable)
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
  • Rotating on-call responsibility
  • Infrequent off-shift and weekend hours as required by projects
SALARY STRUCTURE:

Pay Grade 9 (Hiring Range $74,672.00 to $102,669.00 annually)
