JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.
The Air Gateway Manual outlines the expectations, requirements and standards of each Gateway Operation. The Air Gateway Agent is responsible to ensure that these policies are adhered to at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- The Air Gateway/HUB agent will process and close MAWB for consolidations and back-to-back AWB's.
- Ensure that files contain all necessary documents and copies are in proper sequence.
- Do what it takes to meet and exceed Internal and External customers' defined needs and expectations.
- Book space with carriers.
- Ensure all MAWBs are rated correctly.
- Obtain spot codes on all special negotiated rates with carriers.
- Enter spot rates and codes in C1.
- Track AWB and provide COB information to the respective branches.
- Research on all CCA, weight and rate discrepancies sent by carriers.
- Filing of files.
- Perform other duties as needed or requested.
- Manage/update carrier/vendor rates. Obtain spot rates when necessary.
- Communicate/correspond with overseas agents and clients in a timely manner. To include pre alert, rate requests, shipment status.
- Track shipments and update customers/agents of status.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Able to perform the essential duties of this position without posing a "direct threat" to the health or safety of self or others.
- Able to interact positively and effectively with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2-5 years' experience handling freight forwarding shipments, or a combination of education and expertise required.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with a logistics HUB, Gateway, or handling air export shipments.
- Additional languages are a plus.
- Geographical knowledge is preferred.
- Cargowise (C1) experience is a plus.
- Experience in the freight forwarding industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of US Exports Compliance is preferred.
ENVIRONMENT:
- 100% performed in climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Travel will be (up to 0 %) required in support of the position's responsibilities.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 25 pounds. This position requires employee to frequently work in a fluid, fast paced environment.
