Job Description Summary
Facilities Lead Technician works within a facility management organization that provides a variety of O&M services within a 24/7/365 environment that includes critical data environments and commercial office space. The Lead Technician is responsible for leading a team of technicians, training, coaching, and completing all assigned tasks while maintaining a constant focus on the critical nature of equipment up time.
Job Description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision: Lead, plan, coordinate, and supervise a team of technicians and vendors.
  • Perform QA/QC activities for all shifts under the Planner/Scheduler's direction.
  • Perform routine safety audits and compliance inspections.
  • Manage the department's parts and materials inventory process.
  • Act as the core trainer for all new hires and for required ongoing training.
  • Perform PM's, troubleshooting, basic repairs, adjustments, and installations to commercial building systems.
  • Lead Technician must be capable of responding to a variety of trouble calls or work tickets such as, but not limited to, equipment installs, electrical outages, equipment testing, general plumbing, light carpentry work, basic HVAC, piping repairs, lighting issues while demonstrating strong customer service skills.
  • Ensure that PM's and work orders assigned are completed and closed out in compliance with the provided schedule.
  • Responds to building system alarms to preserve the critical load, minimize equipment or system damage, and participates in root cause analysis.
  • Assist with equipment and system operational modifications, such as critical switching, Lock Out/Tag Out, and safe working area set up so that specialty contractors may perform assigned or duties while minimizing risk to workers, and protecting the critical load.
  • Maintain vigilance and report all potential system/equipment problems to management immediately.
  • Demonstrated experience across multiple skilled trades.
  • Must have flexibility to work overtime and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays, and serve on an on-call basis, as may be dictated by the needs of the business.
  • Able to use hand tools, test equipment and knowledge of maintenance shop practices.
  • Able to respond to equipment alarms, troubleshoot systems through graphic user interface on equipment and systems, and understand systems operations adequately to be able to stabilize system operations while specialized OEM technicians are called to site.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, journals, technical, procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to management and client representatives.
Training & Education Requirements:
  • High School graduate, GED, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience in facility maintenance.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Basic computer and shop math skills required.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and positive attitude.
  • Ability to independently diagnose and repair machinery and equipment.
  • Willing to work adjusted shifts and overtime as required.
  • Must understand Lockout Tagout Procedures
  • Basic knowledge of computerized maintenance programs is a plus.
Qualifications & Physical Requirements:
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Must be able to consistently push and pull up to 50 pounds and lift to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and capable of extensive bending, stooping, stretching, pushing, and carrying.
  • Must be able to work from elevated areas such as ladders, platforms, scaffolding, etc., utilizing fall protection equipment as necessary to complete tasks.
  • Ability to work in an environment with exposure to dust, chemicals, and loud noises.
