Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:The mission of University Career Services (UCS) is to support the mission of the University and Student Affairs by providing personalized and innovative career education to empower student success and transformation. Our vision is for all UNC-Chapel Hill students to create lives of purpose and prosperity in alignment with their personal goals.
University Career Services serves to educate students on career development and management processes, teach students about competencies needed for success, and make connections between students and employers. UCS collaborates with faculty, employers, and other departments.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
The Event Coordinator position requires knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and information systems in order to communicate and process information and organize events. The range of duties centers on three main areas: event management and coordination, supporting department communication strategies, and fulfilling several administrative responsibilities, including records and financial data management and customer service. The Event Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects (including fiscal management) of campus-wide career fairs, UCS retreats/planning days, student & employer programming, UCS Summits/Symposiums/Conferences, professional development events/speakers, campus visitors, and other related events as needed. The Event Coordinator will work with the Associate Director of Marketing & Analytics to use a variety of communication mediums to ensure events are widely communicated and successfully attended.
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:* Knowledge of the principles and practices of event planning and possess the ability to coordinate, organize, and evaluate meetings and/or events.
* Demonstrated experience with event budgets.

* Accuracy, attention to detail, and reliable record-keeping are also required, as is effective problem-solving within system and policy guidelines.
* Demonstrated experience using MS Office and the ability to use a variety of multimedia design technologies

* Experience managing large scale and/or complex events.
* Experience coordinating career fairs.

* Knowledge and awareness of websites, graphic design, and social media applications.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
