Position Overview

Tilcon Connecticut has an opening for an Equipment Field Mechanic. As an Equipment Field Mechanic, the selected candidate will be required to work in a team environment with other co-workers and managers. Our core values are safely, quality and integrity in everything we do. All Tilcon Connecticut employees are expected to partner with associates and management of Tilcon Connecticut Inc. to coordinate, support, and actively promote our safety process. The Field Equipment Mechanic will report directly to the Equipment superintendent and will comply with mandatory safety requirements and other functions of the maintenance team.

Shift

This is a first shift position.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

• Analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds, and maintains construction equipment such as trucks, trailers, cranes, paving machines, motor graders, trench digging machines, bulldozers, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools.
• Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
• Dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools.
• Examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.
• Replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions.
• Tests overhauled equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. All candidates must have a minimum of 3 year's experience PM maintenance and repair of construction/paving equipment. Must be familiar with paver operation and functions, minor welding and torch cutting when needed.

Education/Experience

• Minimum high school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Mechanical background with 3 years of mechanical experience required.
• 2 years of mechanical Tech School Training preferred.
• Moderate IT/computer skills in diagnostics and repair of engine, transmission, and powertrain components.

Work Requirements

• Thorough mechanical knowledge of equipment and vehicles.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
• Pass a pre-employment "Fit for Work" physical.
