Job Summary
This position supports the Corporate Shops on new and existing complex controlled equipment.
Job Responsibilities
• Work along with senior electrical engineers, fabrication specialists, and other Corporate Shops personnel on new and existing complex controlled equipment
• Assist engineering in setting up machine controls code and checking controls operations of machines
• Design panel layouts and electrical wiring drawings along with bills of materials to build automated machines
• Troubleshoot PLCs, I/O, Electrical Drives, electromechanical systems, and electronic sensors of all types
• Communicate openly with electrical shop supervisor, electrical engineers, and electrical CAD technician to fully document all equipment wiring
• Ensure safe and satisfactory operation of new equipment; assist electrical CAD technician by the use of clearly marked prints; red lines
• Update Engineering vault database system with all project documentation
• Train maintenance staff as needed to service critical equipment components
• Travel to various sites to aid in installing various electrically controlled machines
• Improves and troubleshoots controls on existing machinery
• Become expert in applicable OSHA, NEC, and NFPA standards
• Assist in transition of new equipment installation to manufacturing facilities
Qualifications
• 4 year Electrical Engineering degree from an ABET accredited University
• 1-5 years of experience working with machine control systems
• Knowledge of high voltage AC as well as 24 V DC systems
• Willingness to learn process control systems, including Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, electrical drives, temperature, flow, and pressure controls
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills in fast paced manufacturing environment
• Works well in a team oriented environment
• Machine controls programming and CAD experience are a plus
• PC experience
• Hands on
Additional skills that are a plus
• Ignition SCADA experience
• Motion Controls Programming
