Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

The University of North Carolina, School of Law aspires to be a great public law school. Position Summary:

The School of Law is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Director of Development to foster close, meaningful relationships with alumni and secure major philanthropic support for the School. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Development, you will manage a portfolio of approximately 150-200 major gift prospects across North Carolina and select out-of-state regions.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent) with three years or greater of related professional experience; for candidates demonstrating comparable professional backgrounds, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and five years or greater of relevant experience in substitution.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

The skill to motivate and engender the confidence of prospects and donors. Ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive environment such as a research university setting; and exhibit the highest standards of professionalism and performance as evidenced by collaborative teamwork, initiative, critical thinking, good judgment, consistency of output, timeliness of follow-through and strength of written and verbal communication skills. Travel and some weekend work are required.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Demonstrated successful major gift fundraising or transferrable experience preferred. Strong preference for applicants with knowledge of and experience at Carolina.

Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
