Job Summary
Responsible for conceiving, creating and producing promotional, educational, and informational video and photography products that support the operations and activities of the Auxiliary, Health, and Wellbeing Marketing Team units.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Produce, manage and direct video projects for the promotion of the Auxiliary, Health and Wellbeing marketing clients activities, programs, events, and trainings.
- Shoot, manage, and direct photography needs to use for the Auxiliary, Health and Wellbeing marketing clients.
- Hire, train, and supervise student video and photography assistants and special project assistants as required to implement approved projects.
- Consult and collaborate with Auxiliary, Health, and Wellbeing marketing team in the planning and production of media projects, and produce projects as assigned. Perform all facets of video production including, pre-production meetings, concept development, storyboard development, script development, filming, production, directing, editing and archiving.
- Manage the production of the Professional Portrait Lab inside the Illini Union.
- Recruit and schedule talent for video and photo shoots in accordance with department and university policies and procedures.
- Update and maintain the department's video and photo libraries and multimedia presence.
Additional Physical DemandsThis position requires mobility and manual dexterity.
This position is not eligible for a fully-remote work schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in film/video production, cinematography, radio and television, documentary film production, photojournalism, communications, graphic design, or a closely related field to the position.
- One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in areas including non-linear video editing, motion graphics, video lighting and composition, camera operation, graphics design, audio recording, video production, or a closely related professional area.
- Demonstrated experience working in photo and video editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and/or other similar programs.
- Experience using professional video and/or photography equipment in video and/or photo production.
(NOTE: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of professional experience working in video production, digital media, photography, or related field.
- Experience with supervision of staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Skills with Adobe Creative After Effects, Lightroom, Audition, Bridge, and Media composer.
- Skills with the video/photography production equipment including DSLR stills cameras, lenses, lighting and grip equipment, microphones, and audio recorders.
- Thorough knowledge of video production methods, editing and technologies used in the profession; skills with video production equipment and Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Knowledge of computerized media development software and hardware, especially those required for video and web-based video.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to work easily with staff of varying degrees of technical expertise.
- Familiarity with video and photo accessibility standards.
Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5014 - Cinematographer/Creative Video Producer position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 2/3/2025. The budgeted range for this position is $52,000-$60,000 per year. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
