Database Administrator Advisor

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). Ideal candidates will live within 50 miles of the following PulsePoint location. 5800 Northampton Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

The Database Administrator Advisor will work with senior business and IT partners to identify, prioritize, and lead the development and implementation of database administration standards, policies, methods, and procedures.

How you will make an impact:

• Lead highly complex database administration projects and efforts.
• Oversee physical database creation and maintenance in production and non-production environments.
• Build and support required database test environments.
• Accurately estimate database administration effort for any size project covering the project's database needs.
• Identify and define standard procedures and processes, ensuring compatibility with vision and direction.
• Work with business and IT partners to identify, translate, and prioritize the most complex database architectural requirements.
• Provide guidance to subordinates in best architectural practices in maximizing the database performance.
• Troubleshoot difficult database problems.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Seven (7) years of experience in related occupation(s).

Additional Requirements:

Seven (7) years of experience in related occupation(s) must include seven (7) years of experience with each of the following:

• Experience in database administration including designing, installing, configuring, patching, maintaining, and performance tuning for Oracle 12c or 19c Databases.
• Experience performing reviews and implementing solutions for databases and systems to ensure acceptable levels of performance.
• Experience designing, planning, and executing backup and disaster recovery scenarios.
• Experience providing daily operations and providing 24x7 on-call support for production incident resolution.
• Experience troubleshooting, resolving, and conducting root cause analysis for database and application specific incidents.
• Experience developing, supporting, and communicating database policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
• Experience designing, developing, and testing Linux shell scripts to support automation.
