The basicfunction of this position is to perform custodial duties as required for dailyoperation, scheduled events and activities on campus. The custodian positionreports to and takes direction from the Lead Custodian, Facilities ServicesSupervisor and the Senior Buildings and Grounds Manager.

Responsibilities

Coordinateand maintain cleanliness of facilities at the campus in such a manner that thebest possible image of the college is presented at all times.

Coordinateand complete furniture moves and event set-ups as required.

Monitorcustodial supply inventory and request additional stock as required and verifyall inventory is kept in a neat and orderly manner in your assigned area.

Coordinateextra cleaning/set-ups as required due to special needs at the campus asdirected.

Performcleaning tasks as required to make up for missing staff members, unusualconditions, and emergencies.

Handle allemergency situations during the shift to minimize damage to people, buildings,and content and to ensure the security of the campus. Inform Lead Custodian, Facilities Services Supervisor and/or SeniorBuildings and Grounds Manager immediately of any emergency.

Identify andreport maintenance problems on campus to the Lead Custodian, FacilitiesServices Supervisor and/or Senior Buildings and Grounds Manager.

Snow removalas needed

Other dutiesas assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Two years' employment experience in a custodial or maintenance relatedposition.

Physical ability to individually lift 35 pounds.

Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff andvisitors.

Ability to make work related decisions without immediate supervision.

Ability to work flexible hours as required for special functions atcollege facilities.
