Your Opportunity as Copywriter

The Copywriter will be a key member of the in-house creative team. This individual will craft and edit marketing copy for a variety of food/snack, coffee and pet food/treat brands - and their work will directly influence consumers' and B2B customers' perceptions of these brands.

The majority of assignments may support our Away From Home business channels (restaurants, schools, hospitals, convenience stores, etc.), but the Copywriter will flow to the work to help drive consumer purchases at grocery/other retailers as needed. They will also provide occasional supplemental support for corporate and internal communication needs.

B2B assignments may include digital ad campaigns, sales videos, social media content, trade show event materials, sales collateral, etc. B2C assignments may include digital display (banner) ads, content for ecommerce websites (Amazon, etc.), brand emails, in-store materials, brand web pages and articles (including content for search engine optimization [SEO]), social media posts and ads, and more. At times, this team member will support product innovations by recommending off-packaging product claim wording to be routed for legal review. Occasionally, they will also develop name options for offerings, initiatives, etc., that are not in scope for external agencies.

Location: Orrville, Ohio

Work Arrangements: Hybrid (onsite approximately 6 days per month, mostly during core weeks determined by the Company)

In this role you will:

• Interpret creative briefs and other direction, translating complex inputs into simple messaging that moves the target audiences and supports business needs
  
• Apply existing campaign style guides to various tactics, adapting B2C messaging for B2B audiences as needed
  
• Develop all-new concepts and copy as needed
  
• Research, fact-check and proofread content, including checking and applying the latest creative specifications for various media when applicable
  
• Consult with subject matter experts and stakeholders, and present work to internal clients/partners as needed
  
• Provide strategic rationale for recommendations
  
• Apply feedback, data-driven insights and other learnings to continually improve the work
  
• Work closely with Designers/Art Directors, Creative Content Managers/Project Managers and others
  
• Provide guidance to others, including interns, contractors and external partners as appropriate.
  
• Ultimately help drive the growth of both iconic and up-and-coming brands

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field
  
• 5 years of copywriting experience (agency or in-house)
  
• Excellent creative writing skills and impeccable English grammar
  
• Experience both developing and executing effective campaign concepts
  
• Strong portfolio of work, including compelling headlines, subheads and body copy in various tones, across multiple media
  
• Strategic mindset and a propensity for critical thinking
  
• Close attention to detail and the ability to self-edit
  
• Sense of urgency and ability to manage time appropriately while balancing multiple projects
  
• Team player who takes initiative when needed
  
• Competence in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

• Consumer packaged goods (CPG) & B2B experience
  
• Experience writing for social media (especially Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest)
  
• SEO keyword research and copywriting experience
  
• Shopper marketing/retail activation knowledge
