Responsible for implementing McCownGordon's health, safety, and environmental management program across multiple project sites and to ensure a safe work environment for associates, trade partners, and visitors to the construction site. This safety position will work collaboratively with multiple project teams and trade partners to ensure safety success on our projects and be a senior Safety resource to those projects they serve.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Field/ Management Support

  • Assists project management teams with the development and implementation of site-specific safety program and activities.
  • Attends weekly trade partner and OAC meetings (as required) to remain involved in project progress and safety matters.
  • Monitors and reviews trade partner activities for safety concerns.
  • Assists and/or leads incident investigations and management procedures.
  • Assists project teams in the pre-planning of project activities.
  • Reviews documentation to ensure all required onsite records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures.
  • Records, monitors, and analyzes safety, injury, and hazard statistics.
  • Assists the project teams in conducting project safety audits and ensures identified hazards are mitigated to the agreed upon schedule.

Leadership
  • Communicates at both the project and leadership level effectively.
  • Holds project teams and themselves accountable to commitments, elevates as necessary.
  • Provides influence to project-level decision makers.
  • Recognizes others for their contributions and achievements.
  • Exercises leadership and decisiveness at the project level to manage through issues.
  • Provides safety support across multiple project sites with little to no guidance.

  • Coaches and mentors less experienced associates on safety issues.

Technical Expertise and Training
  • Maintains operational knowledge of construction safety, OSHA, ANSI, other applicable standards and procedures and McCownGordon's safety policies.
  • Interprets standards and policies with discriminate application to work activities.
  • Communicates technical information to all levels within the organization.
  • Acts as a reliable resource to project teams and Business Units for guidance in planning and/or troubleshooting.
  • Works with various crews in the development of task-specific work plans.
  • Works with client safety personnel, insurance risk engineers, and trade partner safety professionals in project-related safety matters.
  • Formulates, coordinates, and conducts safety orientation and training programs across a wide range of projects.
  • Assists with developing and conducts safety training courses to educate associates through internal training programs and other appropriate channels.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining Company procedures for safety.
  • Recognizes, addresses, and anticipates project training needs and deficiencies.
  • Develops, teaches, and provides feedback for training modules.
  • Encourages and supports training completion for the project team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements before going into job)
  • Bachelor's degree in construction, Engineering, Safety, or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working in the safety field, or related field.
  • Willingness to work towards Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications.
  • Valid driver's license.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position will typically involve 75% of time in the field, 25% in the office, and may travel often between multiple sites.

This position requires the following with or without accommodations, sitting, walking, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, hearing, visual acuity, and utilization of a computer and office equipment. This person must be physically capable of reviewing a jobsite multiple times per day. Working environments include exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and outdoor weather, and indoor and climate-controlled settings.
