DescriptionPosition Overview
Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. The College of Mathematics and Science currently has 128 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty in 6 academic departments and the School of Engineering. The College serves more than 3,300 undergraduate students in 30 majors and provides graduate programs in Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Applied Mathematical Science, Engineering Physics, and Nursing. Accreditation/Certification is held by ABET, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society. Department Specific Essential Job Functions
Duties include teaching day/evening, graduate/undergraduate classes in computer science and software engineering. The successful candidate will work with students in and out of the classroom and conduct active research in areas of computer science or software engineering. Faculty must be willing to teach in a variety of instructional formats (in-person, hybrid, online) as needed. The successful candidate will be expected to actively participate in professional activities. Other responsibilities will include serving on departmental, college and university committees.
Qualifications/Experience Required
Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). **NOTE** If the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred
The candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in Computer Science, or a closely related field awarded by a regionally accredited institution by the time of employment. Previous industrial experience and U.S. college teaching and research experience are preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
All areas of study in computer science will be considered, with an emphasis on computer graphics.
