The CTC Educator- Basic is responsible for teaching American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support Courses for the Billings Clinic Community Training Center. Teaches, and evaluates CPR educational programs consistent with the American Heart Association (AHA) protocols. Expertise is utilized in a classroom setting. Markets Billings Clinic programs, services and medical staff through and knowledgeable responses to questions regarding the organization. Performs administrative duties for AHA classes including data entry and management, sale of AHA materials, and e-card assignment for students


Essential Job Functions

•Evaluates health care professionals and lay public participants to apply AHA CPR skills and identifies opportunities for modification that would enhance professional practice, maintain/improve patient/resident care and lay rescuer skills.(Education, Community, Skill Evaluation)

•Teaches education programs which are consistent with American Heart Association protocols, collaborates with the CTC Manager and other department staff members and other health care providers to assure appropriateness of educational offerings for individual and community needs. Authorized to instruct the following classes:
•Heart Saver
•Healthcare Provider (Education, Community, American Heart Assoc. Programs)

•Supports the Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) platform for Billings Clinic employees.

•Utilizes various types of audiovisual equipment such as TV/DVD, laptops, simulation equipment, manikins and Microsoft PowerPoint in presenting the above programs. (Education, Materials, Training Equipment)

•Coordinates class/course/program emails and offerings.

•Maintains all record-keeping manual and computerized in accordance with AHA guidelines and Billings Clinic standards.

•Performs data entry and database extraction for AHA reports and documentation.

•Monitors instructor renewals.

•Tracks and processes fees for CTC courses and materials in accordance with accounting practices defined specifically for CTC.

•Receives incoming calls and inquiries and directs callers to appropriate courses and services.

•Keeps CTC Manager apprised of conflicts, complaints, and seeks manager assistance when deviating from standard operating procedures.

•Provides clinically sound information.

•Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
•High School or GED

Experience
•Previous successful experience working in a clinical/healthcare environment, preferred.

•Successful experience teaching AHA programs, preferred

•Successful experience performing office administrative duties and functions.

Certifications and Licenses
•Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Certification, preferred

•Current Montana driver license and the ability to be insured to operate Billings Clinic vehicles

•BLS/Healthcare Provider

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered
