Building Service Worker - Willard Airport

Job Summary
Under direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Finance and Administration, or temporary designee, perform custodial work required for the routine cleaning and upkeep of buildings.

Duties & Responsibilities -

  • Mop, sweep, and scrub floors, stairways, hallways, and other surfaces.
  • Clean, renovate, and renew floor surface finishes.
  • Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, windows, doors, trim, and related furnishings.
  • Wash and/or clean windows, walls, and door glass.
  • Move furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment as directed.
  • Sweep or shovel snow and spread ice melt at building entrances and connecting walks.
  • Collect and remove wastepaper from trash cans to dumpster.
  • Lock and unlock doors to buildings, offices, etc.
  • Clean and service lavatories, toilet rooms, and restrooms.
  • Check and refill/restock hand soap dispensers, hand sanitizer stations, and paper products.
  • Clean and sweep exterior walks and remove waste to the dumpster.
  • Clean and sanitize furniture.
  • Wash all interior glasses, including partitions, glass on escalators, framed pictures, doors, etc.
  • Report all items which require repair.
  • Clean light fixtures.
  • Provide all services for maintenance of carpet floor coverings including vacuuming, shampooing, extracting,
    and spot cleaning.
  • Operate automatic scrubbers and power sweepers (including rider type) used in connection with building
    cleaning and also provide basic care to the equipment including checking and cleaning fluid tanks and charging
    the equipment.
  • Clean, service, and maintain administration offices, rental car offices, and airline offices.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Additional Physical Demands
Must be able to pass an FBI fingerprint based background check and TSA Security Threat Assessment.

Pre-employment strength and drug tests are required for this position.

This position has frequent face to face contact with the flying public, other employees, airport tenants, and visitors.

Required Qualifications -
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -
  • Ability to comprehend basic written instructions, be able to read and follow directions on packages of cleaning materials and caustic agents.
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation practices and cleaning and polishing procedures.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 4502 - Building Service Worker position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The collective bargaining agreement sets a wage of $18.40/hour. This position is 40 hours/week (Monday-Friday) but may fluctuate depending on flight schedules.
