GPIseeks a Structural Engineer familiar with the design of bridges for MassDOT and other local agencies to join our team in New England. We have multiple-span bridges, large-span bridges, and signature structure designs in various stages of development and design. We have new design, rehabilitation, preservation, and repair projects, which include structural design and detailing of bridges, walls, and even dams.

What You'll Be Doing (Responsibilities):

  • Designing bridges and other related structural elements
  • Understanding and applying technical codes and engineering practices related to bridge design
  • Working with a team of enthusiastic bridge engineers to complete bridge designs from Preliminary Structures Reports through the development of PS&E documents and construction.
  • Building solid relationships with inter-departmental teams
  • Understanding and working within schedules and budgets to ensure contractual obligations for structural elements
  • Performing calculations in accordance with the MassDOT Bridge Design Manual, AASHTO design standards, and other requirements
What You Bring to the Table (Qualifications):
  • BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master's degree a plus)
  • Massachusetts State PE or the ability to obtain one within 12 months
  • 4+ years of experience working in the bridge design profession
  • Proficiency in current industry software, including AutoCAD and AASHTOWare required; Bentley Open Bridge, MicroStation and MDX desired
  • Working knowledge of LRFD Bridge Design Codes
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • MassDOT experience preferred

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
