Job Description:


The Department of Comparative Literature at Binghamton University seeks a scholar with a


comparatist approach to contemporary world cinema and media. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Comparative Literature or a related field with an emphasis on cinema, media studies, and/or theories of globalization. We are especially interested in candidates who can teach survey courses on the theory and history of world cinema as well as specialized courses in their area of expertise. Area of specialization is open; scholars focusing on minor cinemas or cinemas of the global south are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will teach at both the undergraduate and graduate level, with a teaching load of 2/2.

Requirements:


A PhD in Comparative Literature or related field is required by August 18, 2025. Working proficiency in the applicant's research language(s), an active research agenda, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for diverse students, are also required.
