Job Description Summary / TWC Summary:JOB SUMMARY:The Department of Counseling and the Division of Research and Innovation invite applicants for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position. The position is an external grant-funded position. The new faculty member will be expected to carry out a vigorous, externally funded research program, including research projects for graduate students in the Doctor of Education (EDD) program, advise doctoral students, and participate fully in teaching doctoral students in the program.
Additional responsibilities include teaching courses in the discipline area, providing high-quality instruction and advising/mentoring to doctoral students, assessing self, students, and teaching techniques to increase effectiveness; continuous professional development; actively participating in the university community; initiating research and publishing in respective discipline area; collaborate and support colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities; participate in service-related activities both on and off campus. The applicant will also receive a 3-month summer appointment to teach in the master's programs at the College of Education during the external grant funding period.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in scholarly research and teaching. Responsibilities for this position will include conducting rigorous academic research, teaching doctoral-level courses, and contributing to a dynamic faculty team in expanding the doctoral program in Counselor Education at Texas Southern University. The work distribution will be approximately 50% research, 40% teaching, and 10% service for the first three years of the appointment.
