Job Summary
The Leadership Development Office (LDO) for MBA Programs oversees a portfolio of developmental programs at the Hyde Park and downtown Chicago campuses at the Booth School of Business. This includes an experiential class (LEAD) required of all MBA students. Other program offerings for the LDO include experiential workshops and coaching to further MBA students' leadership development. The LDO serves full-time, evening, and weekend students, and partners with colleagues to serve executive MBA students.

The Assistant Director is mainly responsible for supporting the implementation of LDO programs and events including sourcing and reserving event spaces, marketing the events, managing participation, communicating with participants, and tracking engagement. Additionally this role will partner with program managers to identify programmatic needs and provide support when needed. This person will work with vendors, manage programmatic budgets, and support the team's communication efforts.

This role works closely with the Part-Time MBA LEAD class and requires regular evening and weekend hours. LEAD is a team-taught leadership development course offered on a quarterly basis for incoming Evening and Weekend MBA students. LEAD creates deeper self-awareness and utilizes the Chicago Booth approach to learning from experience. The EW LEAD team collaborates with Student Life, Academic Services, Alumni Relations, and other departments to ensure that the incoming student experience is successful. The role may also support the operations and logistics of other LDO offerings, including but not limited to leadership workshops, events, and LEAD modules for full-time, evening, weekend, and executive MBA students.

Responsibilities

  • Translates class module designs and learning goals into concrete plans with assistance from class or program manager. Creates learning materials, plans logistics, coordinates with partners, reserves space and follows through. This will include the configuration of Canvas, a learning management system, to organize reading, assignments, quizzes and other forms of student engagement.
  • Executes plans and manages information for assigned courses and programs. Implements processes for student enrollment, engagement and student communication. Plans course day roles and responsibilities, solicits feedback, conducts debriefs and continuously improves learning module delivery.
  • Fulfills key tasks related to the functioning of the LDO. These may include office communication, procurement, operations and budgetary processes.
  • Builds strong relationships within and beyond the LDO to support the delivery of class and program modules. Close collaboration is required with student life, academic services and admissions. Relationships include staff from other departments, coaches and outside experiential vendors.
  • Plans, schedules, and executes training exercises and workshops that support the learning of the facilitators and participants.
  • Prepares program communications, including creating and coordinating dissemination of program materials.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • A minimum three years of experience managing large-scale projects.
  • Familiarity with budget management.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); willingness to learn new software programs.

Working Conditions
  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.
  • Work evening and weekend course and program dates as needed.
