SummaryThe Assistant Director for Outreach and Prevention is part of the Tulane University Campus Health team of committed professionals dedicated to supporting and promoting student health and wellbeing as a core institutional value through a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach. This Assistant Director position resides within the Counseling Center and reports to the Counseling Center Director. The individual in this role collaborates closely with the Director and Associate Director in ensuring the availability of high-quality services to Tulane students, represents Counseling Center in the University community, and may assume responsibility for Counseling Center in the absence of the Director and Associate Director.
The Assistant Director for Outreach and Prevention will coordinate and oversee Counseling Center outreach and prevention programs and activities including diversity initiatives, psycho-educational, mental health issues, and suicide prevention outreach. The ideal candidate will provide an innovative vision and administrative leadership in the area of outreach and serve as an outreach consultant to the university community on mental health issues. The candidate should have experience designing and implementing outreach and preventive programming to diverse audiences, possess public speaking skills and demonstrate a commitment to social justice, competencies in various multicultural issues, and the wellbeing of students. The Assistant Director of Outreach and Prevention is part of the Counseling Center Leadership Team. The Assistant Director also conducts and supervises direct clinical services, including short-term individual therapy, group therapy and workshops, crisis response, outreach activities, community referrals, and consultations, along with working with staff in maintaining a consistently high standard of care. This position has supervisory responsibility for staff psychologists and therapists. Participate in the Student Affairs Division and the University mission in a variety of ways, such as collaborating with other departments on campus, attend university functions, and serve on task forces and committees as assigned; and perform other duties as assigned.
